Anyone that keeps track of these things might of noticed that Atlantic Kayaker hasn’t been updated for a while. Unfortunately it was hacked and has just been put back to normal, long story short here we are again.

I got back from Colorado just in time to catch the tail end of creeking season in Alberta and in time for things to really get going in B.C. After less than a day back in Canada Scott Feindel was at me to go paddling. First we hit up Cataract Creek in Southern Alberta which is one of my favourite runs in the area. It’s got an awesome waterfall, a decent sized slide and lots of good drops in between. After Cataract we took a day off before heading to Revelstoke.

The 15th annual Kananaskis Whitewater Festival was held over the weekend. Rain and cold temps made the event hard on the eyes and anything you wanted to keep dry but it didn’t stop well over a hundred paddlers from all over Canada from showing up to have a good time. Kan Fest is without a doubt one of the largest festivals in Canada and is the funest one that I’ve been to.

Heart attack Harry

This is one of my newer nicknames thanks to Dan Coates, cardiac Cox is another. I remember the conversation with the new surgeon, Dr Pelletier. He came to get a consent signature for bypass surgery. Good news, chance of dying is only 1% from this procedure. The important thing was that by next paddling season I would be good to go paddling. I signed on the dotted line. My bypass surgery was on October 12th. (more…)
