15th Annual Kananaskis Whitewater Festival
The 15th annual Kananaskis Whitewater Festival was held over the weekend. Rain and cold temps made the event hard on the eyes and anything you wanted to keep dry but it didn’t stop well over a hundred paddlers from all over Canada from showing up to have a good time. Kan Fest is without a doubt one of the largest festivals in Canada and is the funest one that I’ve been to.

The Elk is one of those runs that’s short but oh so sweet, like Belgium chocolate…even though I don’t like chocolate… I’ve heard people that do say that stuff is delicious. The Elk is just outside of Fernie B.C. and is a great start to the season in western Canada. This little mission was formed though the power of Facebook, ah yes Gragtmans would be proud!

Canadian team trials for the 2009 World Championships in Switzerland took place over the weekend in Chambly, Quebec. The event boasted excellent water levels, unseasonably warm weather and the most impressive wave competition I’ve ever seen.

With the limited season and all the traveling I do I have had very few chances to paddle in Nova Scotia over the last couple of years. I was really excited to find out that the Medway river was running at prime flows for playboating when I was home last week.
