World Kayak poudly announces a new series of grassroots events in 11 regions
across N. America. This new event series is aimed at bringing the FUN
back into freestyle competition… fun for EVERYONE… 56 events total!
no Pro-boaters allowed! Eleven regions including the Maritimes will have
between 5 and 6 FREE events over the course of the 2008 paddling
season. Events will range from simple rodeos to freestyle through rapid
style competitions. Judging will be simple and done by competitors or
friends. Prizes are given for participation, not scores, and a growing
list of schwag will be given away via draws and door prizes.
The World Kayak Hometown Throwdowns will be modelled after the Maryland
Chute Outs, events that have successfully been run for 10+ years in DC.
Each event is being run by the local World Kayak Ambassador and his or
her team. Volunteers are welcome… please contact me for more information on our regional Throwdown.
All Throwdowns will be covered at Worldkayakblogs.com and each
competitor will be able to post their results at their personal
blogspot for all to see. World Kayak will be providing on-line
registration as well as accepting walk-on registrations the day of the
events.
