Chapman Falls
Chapman falls is located just outside of Sechelt B.C., very close to the Skookumchuck Narrows. Over the past ten days I’ve been lucky enough to spend lots of time surfing the amazing wave at Skook and also managed to gain V.I.P. access to this very cool set of waterfalls.

For the average person getting to Chapman falls would be a mission. It’s not that the access is bad it’s just behind a series of locked gates guarding one of the Sunshine Coast district’s water treatment plants. Luckily for me I’m staying with an employee of the plant who has the keys!

As far as I’m aware, the falls were first run by Rush Sturges and Tyler Brat around this time last year. The water was pretty low but still made for a fun park and huck with a really cool drop in the middle. The middle drop has a log that spans over the canyon below and chokes off the left side of the drop. When I ran the drop I had to get so close to the log that I actually brushed my shoulder against it as I went off the lip. Above this is a small ledge with a hole above the lip making for a little more trickery and below is a straight forward drop where you reconnect three quarters of the way down.

From my experience in B.C. it really doesn’t matter where you are, if you look around a little bit your going to find something cool to run.
