What are you doing this May?
The 2007 World Freestyle Kayak Championships are being held in Canada. Ten years ago the worlds were held on the Ottawa and I was planning to go with some friends. They all backed out (losers). I went alone. I had a good time getting to see the world’s best and paddling the Ottawa with Erica Mitchell and her dad. I think I was the only Maritimer there.
This year Kelsey Thompson will be competing in Men’s K1 and Mark Richard will be in Men’s Squirt. You will see Erick Jackson defending his title against Kelsey, Tyler Curtis, Billy Harris, Nick Troutman (Emily’s friend and Jackson team member)and Tim’s friend, Ben Marr. Ruth Gordon who has visited the Maritimes at least 3 times, Tiffany Manchester and Carly MacDonald are on the Women’s K1 team. These are the people you see all the time in magazines. You can meet them at the parties in the evening. There is no excuse for a poor turnout of Maritimers this year. Don’t wait another 10 years. For information:
