The Aroostook River (Aka “Tinker”)
This river has little to no white-water, likely a class 1 river, however one play feature makes it a worthwhile trip if you are driving on the Trans Canada going west. The hole (the couch) can be reached by taking the TC past Perth Andover, going west until you come to the Aroostook river, before the highway bridge, take the exit and turn left at the stop sign, drive approximately 3km and take your first dirt road on your right hand side, this will take you down directly to the river. Park and paddle, the hole is sweet, well worth the drive. This feature is excellent between aprox. 3000-7000cfs any less, nothing there, any more and it is washed out. It is also worthwhile to bring a rope to pull yourself back up to the main feature. This river is definitely a spring, early summer and fall run, during the dead of summer it is to low.
