North American Update #4- Green River
We arrived in Ashville just in time for Chris Gratmans to sneak us into his dorm room for a dose of Anchor Man and a preview of what we’d be doing the next day. (The Green Narrows) After a mad game of rock, paper, scissors the extra bed was mine and Ben and Zac (both twice my size) were treated to a nice night on the floor, which is still a step up in the world for us.

Chris on the Green.
Chris hooked us up with creek boat’s and did a great job of guiding us down the river saving us lots of time that we would of spent on scouting. Ben chose to hike in and take pictures rather than run the river because he’s fairly new to paddling. He’s only been paddling for two weeks and has already done Lachine, the Ottawa, the Upper Gauley and every other river we’ve done so far! Anyway, he still had a great day and was stoked to see us run The Green. This river has to be one of the coolest runs I’ve ever done. Super steep, warm, fairly safe for what it is, and it runs all year. It’s very obvious why so many boaters hang out in this area. It’s also one of the only creek runs I’ve done that is packed with boaters.

After running the Green we headed over to see the guys at Astral Buoyancy in Ashville. It was really cool to see what goes into every PFD and the different stages along the way. Check these guys out at http://www.astralbuoyancy.com/ , they’ve got some great new products coming out next year. Yonton, from Astral, was nice enough to put us up for the night in his new apartment that he hasn’t even lived in yet. Big empty space for the night what more could we ask for?
Were off to the Chatoga next, the river Deliverance was filmed on. Ben keeps telling us he hopes bad things happen to Zac and I that I’ll let you figure out on your own. Zac’s been trying to learn Spanish from a phrase book and I’m loving paddling in new places with new people. Be on the look out for more news and photo’s, and remember get your pets spayed or neutered!
